[ Although the bad dreams have eased somewhat, Emet-Selch decides to make one last effort to try and fully satisfy the conditions for his so-called 'rehabilitation'. To that end...he has come up with a proposition. ]
Mages of the 'Chosen': how many of you draw upon the latent energy of your land to fuel your magicks and find yourself rationing your power day-to-day? I have some tests I would like to conduct.
Those completely lacking in magical ability are also welcome. I have a different sort of experiment for you.

I focus my energy through my staff, but it has a limited amount of use before it needs repair, so in that way I have to be careful about how often I use it. Do you think you would be able to fix it if that happened here?

What I'm having the most problems with is my nature magic. It feels like I'm reaching out to nothing.

My own abilities seem to be greatly diminished and this land has no aether for me to draw upon. However, I would have imagined that green magic is unaffected.

But he's gotta try, so he decides to start at the basics.]
Shaman are supposed to be able to speak to the elements. The spirits of the land, and of water, and fire, and that sort of thing. But...no one is responding when I talk.
It's like, when you're in a room and you're talking because you think someone else is with you, but then you turn around and they've already left. You weren't supposed to be alone, but...you are.

[ It's like harnessing the power of the elementals, Emet-Selch surmises. Not that anyone has ever really tried to do that in his world. Not without dire consequences. ]

But... [How can he properly convey how weird it feels? Well, maybe Emet-Selch gets it without him having to say more. He seems like a smart old guy.]
I've been to other planets, and there were spirits there. It's not just an Azeroth-only thing. So...I don't know why this world wouldn't have any.

But that is precisely why I wish to run this sort of experiment. To see if we can share our magicks with others.
[ And also to get the Council off his back... ]

What sort of experiment would help us do that?
[And also; ]
On my world, we have something called 'aether', too, but I don't think it's the same thing you're talking about.
