My name is Beta.

I was created, not born. And my creators controlled everything.

Obtaining or cooking food, paying for things, even washing clothing. I don't know how to do...anything for myself. I don't know if I'm even capable of surviving alone. I need to learn.

All I can offer in return here is information or education - Physics, chemistry, geo-engineering, computer science and programming, among others. I haven't seen the necessary materials, but I can create too. I was raised on 31st century technology. 

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but... I need help.

Flowers are pretty. It'd be nice to be surrounded by their colors.

I understand completely; the room I grew up in was quite plain, as well. The urge to dash the walls with the most vibrant of colors was always lingering at the back of my mind.

[Not that he was... created, so as explanation for that Urge:] I am an artist. Not all of my artistic training was as free as I'd have enjoyed.

Perhaps I could join you in gathering an assortment of flowers?

Wildflowers can be picked at will. Purchasing them is another matter, although I do know of one of us who has a field of flowers adjacent to his home. We could make an inquiry!

Would there be less people, with the wildflowers?

Yes. We could pick flowers for as long as you need, undisturbed.

Of course, it's no issue whatsoever. How would you like to display the flowers?

Then I shall make an inquiry about a vase, too! When do you think you would like to go see the fields?

Is there weather you wouldn't want to go in?

It would be difficult to pick flowers in the rain. If we keep our spirits up, we should keep the rain at bay!

Anything else would suit me just fine.

Ah. Forgive me, I assumed... The rain can be both refreshing and cruel, depending on the storm.

No matter; a sunny day to herald our journey into the fields, indeed. Are you staying at the inn? I would suggest it as the best place to meet beforehand.

I am. I wasn't sure where else to go.

That's what it's here for, I presume. We would be unlucky if our hosts changed their minds about indefinite stays; I'm situated in the inn myself, as well. We will be able to meet with ease when the time comes.

Is there something we're supposed to do until the sentencing? I haven't been given any tasks.

Nor have I. I presume we are to live our lives in this new town and stay out of trouble, lest we upset those applying these "sentences" even further.

I have been drawing to pass the time.

I don't really know what to do...I've never not had some sort of training module.

Ah. Well... would you be interested in drawing?

[He's only got the One Thing... well, his other suggestion would be "people-watching," but he knows that's probably going to be a no.]

I have made requests of the locals and I have been provided paper free of charge! Not of the highest caliber, of course, but serviceable for a rough sketch. You may use some of mine.
