I can cook scrambled eggs and some ham? But honestly? Just anything at this point. What are meals that are good enough for a 13 year old to make?

I think I can do that? Unless you're asking me to make the meatballs by hand, then I'm not really sure.

... on a very basic level
I'd recommend adding milk, eggs and breadcrumbs to help keep it together and give it better texture
mix ground pork with beef if you're feeling fancy

...But I never knew that breadcrumbs were in meatballs before. I wonder what else goes into food that I'm not aware of.

wouldn't make sense if I told you to start off with a soufflé or some crap

probably lots of weird shit, especially if you buy it from a store
but generally yeah, there's usually a lot more that goes into food than what you see
the key to keeping it that way is the proper proportions

Otherwise, I think I'm just going to have to guess each amount. This is starting to get harder than it looks.

[ And with that, he's off to the tavern! Once he arrives there, it only takes him a moment to locate the person he's looking for ─ or at least one that he assumes to be him, but it's not like the place has many children running around. The man approaches Ken, not bothering with any sort of polite greetings or explanations. ]

So, you're the kid?

[The moment that Ken heard a voice, he immediately went to look down at the plate of meatballs on the table. Awkwardly, he wondered if this was a good idea or not but...]

Yes, that's correct. Um...my name is Ken Amada and thank you for helping me out with this.

[He wasn't going to regret this, was he?]

[ What, does the kid actually expect him to have any investment in social etiquette to acknowledge that or introduce himself in return? Heck no, he's got better things to do. Like joining Ken in staring down at the result of his hard work. At least it looks like meatballs, more or less? They might not be a work of art, but he's seen worse... much worse. ]

Let's get this over with.

[ He says, like he's being forced to do something unpleasant, not being offered a free meal. Though in all fairness, whether it counts as one or not depends on Ken's cooking skills (or lack thereof). The man grabs one of the meatballs from the plate and pops it into his mouth rather unceremoniously.

Munch... munch... munch... ]

[ He announces his verdict with a frown. Thanks, Gordon Ragnasay! ]

[Somehow, Ken was fully prepared to say that. Here he was, hoping that his cooking wouldn't be that bad but it turns out? It seems like it was. Taking a deep breath in, all he could do was shake his head.

Somewhere, he had hoped Shinjiro couldn't be screaming somewhere about how he needed to do better or how he would be reminded of Fuuka's own cooking. But alas, he simply wasn't meant to be.]

...C-Can you tell me where you think it went wrong? Perhaps I could try and redo it?

[Although, he was worried about what he was going to say next. As he braced himself, he hoped it wouldn't be too bad.]

[ He might have criticized it rather harshly, but truth to be told? It's nowhere near as bad as his little sister's cooking. Hell, it's not even in the same galaxy; after all, Ragna is still alive after trying it, so while there's definitely room for improvement, there's also hope for the kid. ]

You didn't mix it well enough. Also, you probably mixed up the temperature to begin with.

[ There might be some other, less significant details, but he couldn't tell where else things went wrong without actually watching him at work... which means... ]
