Well, I haven't seen any roaming about aside from the strange tentacles but I'm told those were the remains of the creature which attacked the area before I arrived here. But if there ARE any demons then I will gladly offer my spear to fight against them. It's part of my vow to Gracefeel.

I see. How about this? Instead of going the mercenary route and asking random people for food in exchange for your strength, you should try applying for a position as a guard or something. That way you'll have a steady income even when there's no trouble. There's a good chance you're going to be stuck here for a while so it would be best to ensure you can feed yourself in the long run.

Do they have a formal garrison here? I thought a small township like Aldrip would only have maybe an informal one made of the local people - especially since they seem to have to rely on outside help to cull monsters.

[ He, of course, doesn't mind doing these odd jobs, but it's hardly a steady source of income. ]

I'm new here myself, so I don't know much about what's been happening.... I wonder if things like monsters and demons are common around here....?

A paladin... is that like a warrior?

To put it simply, a paladin is a knight appointed by a ruling lord and blessed by a temple. So, yes, I am a warrior in a way but I am employed by the lord to fight as a part of my duty to my god.

[ There are of course all the politics which come from such a position but that's hardly important here. ]

I hope that this land isn't as full of monsters or demons as the one I came from is, but if there are any about, I can help dispatch them.

Where I'm from, we don't have things like that. Gods or goddesses.... monsters and demons.

....I mean, I never thought we had things like that, but just before I came here, I learned that monsters really do exist. No one else knew about them but me.... What kind of monsters and demons are there, in your world? What are they.... like?

Well, there are a lot of different types of monsters. Creatures like giant boars or wyverns - they're terrifying but a strong party or army could stand against them. I guess you could say they're local creatures.

Then there are the undead, which include entities like mummies, ghosts, and skeletons. They're created by strong grudges when people who are dying possess a strong or desperate desire to continue living - or if Stagnate forms a contract with them to make them that way. The goddess Gracefeel lends me her power to send the undead on to their next lives.

Demons on the other hand come from another dimension called Hell. They're dangerously strong and the higher-ranked ones can even use the Words. Ah, the Words are basically magic. They can use magic.
