[ It's a simple statement, and for a moment it does sound like the message might just cut off there. Just that one flat statement, seemingly devoid of any emotion aside from a vague hint of annoyance.

But then there's a sound that's faintly like a step, then a grumble, and then the message continues anyway. Still mostly deadpan, but a little more annoyed this time. ]

Sure, I get it. The whole crime and punishment theming? Very cute. Maybe start using that talent to build an amusement park or something more productive next time, if this sort of thing is your hobby. Either way, it's really not done to let yourself be heard on the way in, and then just act like you're not there.

[ A slight pause-- and then a sigh. ]

Just tell me someone can point me to the witch. I really don't have time to be beating around the bush.

[ Ange audibly breathes in, before releasing said breath as a sigh. ]

That's what I thought too, for the longest time.

[ Not that she's assuming it means they are real in this person's world as well - but, you know, the possibility is always out there. ]

Then I found out the hard way they're very much real, though I wish they weren't. I've met a handful at this point, and every single one aside has been a total pain.

How did you happen to discover them? [ he will give benefit of the doubt, after all fyodor's own world is strange in ways. perhaps there are mysteries in it that go beyond the book. ]

[ There's a pause, only a beat, before she sighs again, mostly in realisation of-- ]

I know what that sounds like. [ Or rather, what most people would take it as. ] But this isn't some vague or spiritual mumbo-jumbo, it's very much literal. One just appeared to me out of the blue to make a deal with me.

I pass no judgment as to what your experience was like. It sounds like what I would expect from a witch, coming up with a deal to tempt you.

[ There's a soft noise of acknowledgement coming from her at that first part. Perhaps there's even a tiny edge of something surprised about it - nothing too intense, but it's there - since she isn't used to people just accepting her words so quickly, without judgement. ]

The next one made my participation seem even more involuntary. [ Even though she'd still say the first witch was worse than that one.. ] And if there's one arranging all of this here, then they've taken out the voluntary facade completely. I sure didn't come here of my own accord. And that note they gave us doesn't even suggest we ever did.

[ Just a straight up sentencing, without a trial or anything else. ]

You are correct, I do not believe anyone would voluntarily sign up for being judged and punished. Not unless there were other motives behind that forced their hand to agree. We are all trapped here but that does not mean there is no way out. It is a matter of waiting.

Witch, god, or whoever it is, will make itself known eventually.

[ Granted, Ange doesn't disagree. She's used to the witches from back home, and there's no way any of them would stay in hiding for too long when they could instead be gloating to their captives.

But she's interested in hearing his opinion here. ]

That they'll appear, even if we just wait and would do nothing else?

Things all progress in an order even if we are unable to see it for ourselves. The more time we spend here, the more all those pieces are available to us to construct a path leading to what may come next.

Inevitably, all Gods are given face and intent, either by playing their hand or by the assumptions people make of them. I believe they'll appear but it may also come down to making them appear.

[ It's a good thing that Ange got used to people talking like this a lot before showing up here, or her reaction might have been entirely different here. But with all of her recent experience, the way he speaks almost feels weirdly familiar instead.

Even though I've never met any supernatural entity that wasn't annoying as all hell, at least we could learn more about their intent if we could actually talk with them.

It should not be impossible to force them to appear but it would be unwise to do so without having more information as to what could happen.

Sure. In my experience, very powerful beings like that sure love murdering people left and right.

[ It's the sort of thing she should probably sound a little more concerned about, though her tone is still very even. Not too much emotion there. ]

Though some of them can also revive people, even if it's just to murder them all over again.
