[ It's a simple statement, and for a moment it does sound like the message might just cut off there. Just that one flat statement, seemingly devoid of any emotion aside from a vague hint of annoyance.

But then there's a sound that's faintly like a step, then a grumble, and then the message continues anyway. Still mostly deadpan, but a little more annoyed this time. ]

Sure, I get it. The whole crime and punishment theming? Very cute. Maybe start using that talent to build an amusement park or something more productive next time, if this sort of thing is your hobby. Either way, it's really not done to let yourself be heard on the way in, and then just act like you're not there.

[ A slight pause-- and then a sigh. ]

Just tell me someone can point me to the witch. I really don't have time to be beating around the bush.

Of course, it's natural to question it. I find it interesting you're already attributing it to a very specific sort of figure.

My first thought was magic as well, I will admit. It has eh... a particular destructive quality that warps whatever it touches, reality included.

You wouldn't happen to have a particular witch in mind? [given the insult and definition both thing.]

[ There's a slight huff, then followed by a pause - like she needs a moment of thought. ]

No.

[ Sure, Ange knows quite a few witches, but.. this doesn't really seem like it would be the style of any particular one of them. Maybe Featherine at most, she really seems to like weird, convoluted stuff, after all. ]

But there are so many out there. [ If their word is to be believed. ] I only know a few. And most of them love to theme themselves after a specific concept, so it's entirely this is some sort of witch of justice.

It doesn't seem super convoluted when this is exactly what Ange is used to. It'd follow the pattern. ]

The only weird thing is that there seem to be so many people involved here, but that could just mean it's a particularly powerful witch.

That seems rather limiting. I suppose mages tend to focus on a particular school of magic regardless, so hardly surprising.

If it were a singular being, a witch as you say, what would be the purpose? Rehabilitation of an oddly large number of people? It hardly seems strict punishment so far.

Witches live forever. They're ageless. It means they get bored. [ According to them, anyway-- but Ange can imagine it to be true, though she still thinks it's no excuse.

But it's not like one expects immortal supernatural beings to do better just because they're told to. So annoying. ]

So they play around with humans the way little children play with dolls. Or perhaps more accurately like they play with ants, considering how said play often ends.

[ Not safely and happily, of course being the implication here. ]
