03: Voice - theoretically directed to the Arztenritter

[If your character is part of the Arztenritter, they will get this message over their pendant. (If your character isn't on that list but should be, let me know and I will remedy that!)]

This is Ethlyn! There's a terrible monster risen outside of town and extending its--its roots into it. The townsfolk are running for their lives. There will be terrible injuries before today is out. Get any healing kit you have and look for people who need help! Calm them if you can. Don't bother with a horse. They'll surely panic.

[She isn't necessarily looking for a response (so if your healer is Branded then she won't notice if it's ignored) but feel free to use this as a prompt! And she's a little hasty cycling through people to contact so even if your character isn't in the Arztenritter, they may get a ping anyhow.]

I am already on my way.

[News travels quickly, especially when panic is involved, and the absence of some familiar faces has made Dohalim's concerns escalate even further. He is already in the process of gathering what supplies he can, along with his weapon, and heading towards the outskirts of town when Ethlyn's voice sounds over his charm.]

This creature— you mentioned roots?

[There is a sense of carefully-controlled calm in his voice, urgency just barely contained.]

Yes, it's--hard to describe. [There's a pause, as though she's looking up and around.] It's sending roots out through the town. I think they're sapping the ground--every plant they get near wilts.

[menancia]

[Spreading its roots through the town... perhaps it might be countered, somehow, at least in part, by his own affinity for plants. The possibility remains with him, but first, they must focus on giving aid where it is needed.]

I suppose I am about to see for myself— though I will be tending to the injured, first and foremost. We must fortify an area so that those who require aid are not left vulnerable, as well— the town itself may not be safe, but perhaps in the opposite direction, further from the forest...

I agree. The danger is from the south, in the forest. [a pause for thought.] The caves north of town aren't ideal but they would be shelter.

Shelter, in addition to providing a bit of distance... the caves have dangers of their own, but if we do not venture too far in, they could suit our purposes well enough.

[Keeping people away from the creature currently on the rampage is the most important thing.]

It will do, until another solution presents itself.

Yes--once we get rid of this--thing--we can bring people back out.

However we accomplish that.

We will manage it— by doing whatever it takes.

[And nothing less than that.]

Should you have need of me somewhere specific, I will be in the field. I'll let you know if there are any injuries I cannot handle on my own, but in the meantime, shall we tell those seeking shelter to gather in the north?

[He doesn't love the idea of sending civilians off unescorted, but healers and combatants are going to be needed elsewhere for the time being.]
