Hey there!

[They have no idea whether or not this is the right greeting to use after a pseudo-apocalypse and reset of a simulation, but it seemed less stiff than "Hello," slightly more professional than "Hi," and much better than "Howdy."]

I've been thinking about putting together either some sort of job placement agency or a group of people who can find things and deliver them as needed. I can actually do some of the finding on my own right now, but... it's just me, so simple jobs are preferred.

Um. Sure. I can do that. Probably. As long as they don't mind the the delivery taking a little while, I can go out and find herbs.

Are you from a world that didn't have many plants?

I don't know about the whole world, but The City's pretty low on plantlife unless you're somewhere with a lot of rich people.

Well, there are also some agricultural districts, but I haven't been to any of them.

[And that's without getting into more... unique plants out there.]

Seeing this much green around has taken some getting used to.

Someone I know said something along those lines not too long ago. You don't know things can be any different until you see it, and then it's hard to forget. I wonder if I'll miss seeing all this when I'm gone.

I think so. There were flowers and trees. Forests too, but I never really visited any.

Nothing to be sorry for, considering that it sounds like you are doing your best to improve yourself.

I also can't say that I'd mind not having to take care of the constant paperwork. And incidentally I also don't know how to operate a gun.

I'm less nervous about it than I'd be if it were any other weapon. I'd say the gist of it simple--that you just have to point it and pull the trigger. But I feel like that's almost like saying the only thing you need to know about using a sword is to hit someone with the sharp part.

[Having lived there for a little while after their arrival, Dante is able to find the inn fairly quickly. The roof is something of a more awkward affair--their attempts to explain why they need to be there not the most reassuring thing in the world--but they eventually manage to talk their way through, taking a few cautious steps onto the roof.]

[True to his word, Vincent has arranged some basic targets; sheets of paper with the anatomical drawing of faceless men are hung up as if they were laundry along a line, and in Vincent's hand is what looks to be a fairly basic pistol.

[He's not wrong. All that friendliness had to come from somewhere, and they get the feeling that somewhere was lost the moment that reset was complete. No choice is without its consequences.]

[Have they ever used a gun before? They pick it up and take it in hand and it certainly doesn't feel familiar. But that could just be that this one is different or guns from other worlds don't feel the same as a gun from the City would.

They hold the pellet gun up and try their best to match the stances of the Sinners' Identities that made use of guns. The sight... would probably be a lot easier to position if they knew exactly where their eyes (or "eyes") were supposed to be in this clock, but eventually they manage something that seems to line up. They tense, finger hesitating on the trigger... and then fire.

The pellet grazes the paper target's edge, but the silhouette is unmarred.]

That's a pretty optimistic way to look at it. But... I get it. If there's nothing you can do about it, then the best thing to do is make do with what you have, right?

Of all the odd jobs I've been getting, delivery service is certainly one of the most popular ones. Especially the kind of stuff that takes me to more dangerous places.

I don't mind working with someone, though. I can take care of things on my own, but I gotta admit: it's easier when you have someone's watching your back.

So do we gotta prepare for an interview or something?

In the end it's always about having to make the decision to harm and take a life no matter how you do it, isn't it?

...Yeah. And making peace with the fact that you don't always have a choice in the matter.

Oh, we always have a choice as long as we are able to muster a thought.

The question is whether those choices are also acceptable to us. And I agree that there's sometimes only the choice between bad or worse in such cases.
